How do I know it’s time to explore senior living options?
There is no wrong time to explore senior living options. In fact, the earlier you begin your search for the perfect senior living community, the better equipped you’ll be when the time comes to make the move. Many families wait until there’s a health event or crisis to begin looking, and that can make the process feel rushed and overwhelming. Reach out to a Spring Arbor representative today to tour a community and learn more about senior living options.
How do we begin the process?
The best way to begin your search for the perfect senior living community is to schedule a tour. It helps to see a community first-hand, and Spring Arbor welcomes prospective residents and their families any time. Enjoy a meal, participate in activities, and get a feel for what a day is like at Spring Arbor. Once you’ve made the decision to move forward, Spring Arbor will assess your loved one to ensure that we are able to meet their needs, and staff members will guide you through the process with compassionate assistance.
What type of care do I need?
Spring Arbor offers both assisted living and memory care neighborhoods. To determine which neighborhood is the best fit for your loved one, Spring Arbor team members will work with your loved one’s physician to determine which neighborhood will be most safe and comfortable.
How do I begin the conversation about assisted living with my aging parent?
Beginning the conversation is often a source of anxiety for children of aging parents. Choose a private time with your parent when there are no distractions. Address any concerns you’ve been having, and emphasize that you’re there to advocate for your parent. Listen to your loved one’s feelings and trepidations, and acknowledge that it’s a difficult decision to make. End the conversation with a plan of action – whether it is scheduling a tour of a community, or just researching the process further.
How do we pay for assisted living and memory care?
Fees for assisted living and memory care are not covered by Medicare or commercial health insurance policies, and must be paid for privately. However, many long term care insurance policies offer benefits that cover the cost of assisted living. There are also benefits available to some veterans and their surviving spouses. Contact a Spring Arbor team member today to learn more about costs and paying for assisted living.
